High Altar at Marishes
Interior of Marishes Church
Altar Cross and Reredos

Welcome to St Francis’ Church, Marishes. The church, set back off the road, stands as though in the midst of fields and, as it principally serves farms in this wide area, its setting is most appropriate.

It has a curious spire, like something out of the Swiss Alps or even an Orthodox Church of the East.

Yet whilst the foundations of the spire dominate even on the inside, St Francis’s is satisfyingly exactly how a small country church should be.

Directions

Leave the A169 Malton to Pickering road where signposted Low Marishes. The church is about a quarter of a mile along towards the right.

Regrettably, because it is so isolated, St Francis’ Church is usually locked.
