Ways you can support the work of our Church
There are many ways in which you can support the life of our fabulous Church here in Pickering, both physically and financially. Here are a few suggestions…
Our Sunday, Wednesday and extra services are always advertised here on Our Services page, and on our Facebook page too. You are more than welcome to attend any (or all!) and we look forward to seeing you, please do come and introduce yourself. It is always very gratifying to see the congregation swell with visitors and new regulars!
We hold weekly Coffee Mornings on Mondays from 10-12, and these run from Easter to Christmas, with payment by donation. We serve homemade cakes and scones and Fair Trade tea and coffee. Gluten Free is catered for. In the intervening months we have a Craft Hub where you are welcome to bring along your handicraft and chat with others over a cup of coffee or tea. Or just come along and sit and chat.
Occasionally we have extra events during the year, such as the Coronation afternoon tea, or the 1940's Weekend where we serve refreshments.
We have a 200 Club, where players pay £2 each month to be entered into a 'draw' with the chance to win 50% of the Club income for that month. Tickets are paid for at the start of the year, £24, in January, but you are welcome to join in for the remainder of the year at any point. Ask one of the Churchwardens, or Ali (on the refreshment table) if you would like to join in, or would like more information.
Twice a year we hold Fairs, with stalls and games and these are very lively events. If you'd like to help us by 'manning' a stall, making things for us to sell, like baking or handicrafts, or helping set up or clear away, it would be hugely appreciated.
The Church is used for various concerts throughout the year, often by ticket, or pay as you arrive, and these are popular and a good evening of enjoyment.
We have cleaning teams who volunteer each week, and you'd be very welcome to join them, just have a word with a Churchwarden if this is something you'd like to do.
We have an early years group called Little Fishes who meet on Thursday mornings for a couple of hours. They have their own dedicated page here on the website, so do have a look if you'd like more information, or come along on a Thursday with your tiny person and say 'Hello'
