Following on from our 'Joyful Noise' event last month, we held another well-attended drop in music session in Church
Churchyard Project Coffee Morning, 10th August
A lovely informal coffee morning took place in our churchyard to launch the project to improve and use our outdoor space more. We were joined by Holly Smith from York University who spoke about biodiversity. We enjoyed bacon sandwiches, cake and hot drinks, and the showers that had threatened initially held off nicely.
Mother’s Union Barbecue, 25th July
This afternoon our Mothers' Union enjoyed our annual BBQ at the vicarage. Burgers, hot dogs and home made cakes were enjoyed by all. Even the weather was kind to us.
Make a Joyful Noise!
On 29th June we welcomed about 50 adults and children to our first Music Drop In at church. We explored the instruments, sang some songs, and listened to some musicians of all ages. We served refreshments too.
Now we can now move our pews to make usable space. This is so exciting!! We are aiming to try to develop this every last Saturday of the month. Look out for advertising.

Parish Away-Day, at Home!
Our Away Day at Home on Saturday 11th May.
A group of us spent the day in and around the Church reflecting on Caring for God’s world. We offered various activities which helped us think about the issues in today’s world, including art work and walks and reflections in the Church Yard. Some of our Little Fishes joined us for a while with their families to help create our fish artwork.
We shared a lunch together (provided by Country Crust and NOSH).After lunch we used the Parachute to explore working together and how we can impact the world and others. We then offered a couple of meditations and an opportunity to relax. We ended the afternoon with a Eucharist, using a service from Iona.
Thanks to all who came and those who helped in any way.

Annual Bonfire Event (2023)
We had another lovely Bonfire Evening on 10th November in the Vicarage grounds. The weather was kind again, thankfully, apart from being very cold, and we had a fabulous turn out of people once again to enjoy chilli baked potatoes, pea soup and various cakes and popcorn. Children had lots of fun with the sparklers and everyone enjoyed the warmth of the bonfire.
Walsingham Pilgrimage, September 2023
32 pilgrims from St Peter & St Paul, Pickering and from the wider Deanery of Northern Ryedale, enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in North Norfolk.
The weekend included services of Mass, Benediction, Stations of the Cross, Healing, Anointing, Confession and Sprinkling from the well. We shared our time together enjoying meals with other pilgrim groups from across the country and were blessed with good weather and excellent hospitality from the Shrine staff.

Summer Fair, 29th July
Although we weren’t as busy as previous years, and because of threatening rain had to hold the fair inside the church, we had a fabulous time and the atmosphere was really lovely. The singing entertainment was brilliant as usual and we had a singalong session at the end as well, before the raffle was drawn. A huge thank you to the organisers and to everyone who managed a stall as well as the refreshment team, not forgetting all those who stayed behind to help tidy everything away.
The Dog Show was outside of course and was huge fun. Thanks to The Pet Store for organising this again.
The Coronation Tea Party. Monday 8th May
Wydale Away-day. 29th April
We had fantastic Parish Away Day at Wydale Hall on Saturday 29th April. 38 of us spent a lovely day there. We started the day with a quiet worship and prayer and sang “Be Still for the presence of the Lord” We had talks on The Holy Land and Praying with Icons. We had the opportunity to take part in a Guided Visualisation. Other activities included art and crafts, walks in the woods, gardens, putting, music and time for reflection. Lunch and refreshment breaks enabled us to just chat and have fellowship together.
Our end of day worship was much more vibrant, with ribbon waving and singing “You shall go out with Joy”.
Thanks to all who came, helped and shared the day with us.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who organised and supported our Christmas Fair, by either making things to sell or coming along on the day to set up, clear away, or to buy things and enjoy the experience. We had a lovely afternoon and raised a massive £1531.79.
Thanks also to the Sweet Martinis for their lovely singing, to David for playing the piano in between, and to the SingalongaBobs for the Christmas carols (and J.J. for his enthusiastic prompting)

Bonfire Social evening, Saturday 12th November 2022
We had a really lovely evening, and the Vicarage garden was packed with lots of children - new faces as well as regular churchgoers. There was a lovely atmosphere of friendship and outreach and everyone said they’d thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We had several very generous donations towards the cost of the food, with some left over to go towards the upkeep of the church. A huge thank you to those who came along and supported this event, to the ladies who cooked and baked, and to the Vicar, Rev. Gareth Atha for the use of the garden.
Harvest lunch. Sunday 9th October
Summer Fair, 13th August
A HUGE thank you goes out to everyone who helped at our Annual Summer Fair, who donated items to be sold or for the raffle, baked or made things to sell, it was lovely to see our stalls full of produce. Thank you to those of you who did venture out to support us - we hope you had a lovely time. The extremely high temperature did keep some folk away, and sadly the Dog Show had to be cancelled for safety reasons. Despite these challenges, we still had a wonderful day and raised a brilliant total towards Church Funds. (Will be announced on Sunday)
Strawberry Summer Soiree
We had a lovely Saturday evening for our soiree on July 16th. Although numbers were down from the last one, we still had a lovely evening enjoying a glass (or three) of Pimms, strawberry cream scones, cheese scones, smoked mackerel blinis, Victoria sponge, nibbles, and of course the chocolate fountain to dip marshmallows and strawberries into. A big thank you to everyone who came along and supported us, as well as to the ladies who baked, served and cleared up after us.
Royal Jubilee Tea
We had a fabulous afternoon at our Royal Jubilee Tea in Church on Friday 3rd June. It was lovely to see so many new faces and visitors to the church, as well as our familiar supporters. We served a great selection of cakes, as well as scones with cream and jam and we were kept very busy! Although it was a free event, with donations very gratefully received, we raised £170 towards church funds. A HUGE thank you to everyone who came a long and supported us, and to the ladies who baked, served and washed up.
Monday Morning Coffee
Coffee, tea, scones and cake are available in Church every Monday morning to coincide with the town’s weekly market, from Easter to December. This is a great way to catch up with friends, new and old, over a scone and a hot drink, and all for a very reasonable price! Why not come along and see what our 'cake of the week' is, and enjoy a slice or a scone. (Gluten free is available too!)
Christmas Coffee Morning, 4th December 2021
HUGE, HUGE thanks to everyone who helped by baking, setting up & putting away, making teas & coffees and washing up, clearing tables, and working on the stalls, to the choir who sang so beautifully, accompanied on the organ by Steve, to Bob our fabulous guitar soloist, and of course to everyone who came along and helped to make it a success. We raised an incredible £1460.61
Bonfire Social evening. Friday 5th November 2021
We had a fabulous Bonfire Social evening, with familiar and lots of new faces. Everyone enjoyed cheesy baked potatoes, pumpkin and roasted onion soup and tasty sweet treats. There were sparklers and s’mores around the wood burner and lots of laughter and chat.
